Dearest Suzy

I know that mommy and daddy have been yelling at each other a lot and I know how this must be hard for you. I'm so sorry for that, honey.

Your mother and I... well, Suzy, your mother and I once loved each other very, very much. And that's why we got married and why we had you ! You're growing to
be so beautiful, honey. But you see, sometimes two people who love each other... well sometimes two people fall out of love. Your mother and I have been having trouble working out our differences. But one thing hasn't changed, Suzy, and that is - we both still love you, so very, very much!

Please don't think that any of this is your fault. It's not! It's just between daddy and mommy.

Things will be a little different in the coming months... I'll be moving to a new house and you'll be staying with your mother. But you'll still visit me on weekends and holidays, and you can bet I'll be coming to all of your dance recitals and softball games. Mommy still loves you just as much as she ever did and so do I.

You're so special to us. And... and we'll still be a family - you, me, and mommy! We'll just be a different kind of family.

And I know it's so hard on you, Suzy, but I know you'll be brave. And your mommy and daddy will be so much happier now, and you won't have to hide in your room when daddy says bad words to mommy and mommy breaks all the dishes. It'll be much better this way for all of us, you'll see.

Love,
     Daddy

p.s. Be sure to give hugs and kisses to Mr. Bear before you go beddy-bye tonight!
